Letter From The Vet
Hello Sue.
How is Tyler doing today? Is she doing well on the medication?
I have some cautiously good news for you. I spoke with the radiologist after we received the radiology report and she stated that she thinks the process going on in Tyler’s hock is likely a chronic issue – like arthritis. She is concerned that there could be a minor non displaced fracture which may be causing the limping. She can’t entirely rule out cancer but she is pretty sure it is not bone cancer. She is concerned that a synovial cell tumor or fibrosarcoma is still a possibility.
She also noted that Tyler’s liver is normal and felt that her spleen was prominent but not enlarged.
We have a couple of options for her swollen hock now. One is to wait and continue to monitor and recheck her x rays in 2 weeks. The other is to have her come in for a fine needle biopsy and cytology of the swelling to try to rule out cancer.
Please update me when you get a chance and let me know what you think about our next options.
Warmly,
kristin
